Lolita's Legacy™ Teacher Training

500-Hour Comprehensive Program · Beginning August 2026
Taught by Artemis Anderson · Lolita's Legacy™ Certified Educator

About the Program

Lolita's Legacy™ is a nationally recognized teacher training program designed by Pilates Elder Lolita San Miguel, dedicated for practitioners choosing to study the Pilates method deeply. The program offers a rigorous and personal path into teaching through the lineage of Ms. San Miguel — one of Joseph Pilates' direct protégés and one of only two instructors personally certified by him.

Set within Bright Star Pilates, a working studio environment, the program emphasizes observation, practice, mentorship, and the development of thoughtful, skilled teachers across 4 comprehensive systems.

This is not a high-volume certification program. Each cohort is limited to 6 trainees so that learning remains personal, rigorous, and highly supported.

Historical and contemporary exercises across all apparatus: Mat, Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze Table, Chair, Barrels, and auxiliary equipment

History, evolution, teaching philosophy, and protocols of the practice

Anatomy, physiology, and science of Pilates movement — with an exclusive anatomy manual written for Lolita's Legacy

Assessment tools to guide clients through safe, effective workouts

Passing the final exam is an internationally recognized qualification meeting the standards of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) — a passport to teach anywhere in the world.

About Educator Artemis Anderson

Artemis Anderson is a second-generation Pilates teacher in the lineage of Lolita San Miguel. Her work is grounded in the clarity, structure, and elegance of the traditional system, with an emphasis on understanding how exercises function, progress, and apply to individual bodies.

At Bright Star Pilates, teacher training is approached as an apprenticeship rather than a certification. Programs are intentionally small, allowing for meaningful mentorship, real studio experience, and thoughtful progression. Her teaching is direct and supportive, helping trainees develop both confidence and depth.

About Lolita San Miguel

Lolita San Miguel (born 1934) is a celebrated Pilates Elder and master teacher — one of only two people officially certified by Joseph Pilates. A former Metropolitan Opera Ballet soloist, she transitioned to Pilates after a knee injury in 1958, later founding the Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico and Lolita's Legacy Teacher Training program.

Her work has shaped generations of teachers through its commitment to rigor, clarity, and fidelity to the method. She personally trained a select group of instructors — Lolita's Disciples — and personally chose the educators she wanted to carry on her legacy.
